I have been working at my family takeaway since I was 15; the shop was brought by my grandmother after working many years in Chinatown eventually earning enough money to bring the rest of her family over, a house and a shop.

Since then we’ve seen good and bad times (economic and otherwise), we’ve seen our fortunes fluctuate with the weather, what’s on TV and who has lost their job.

This blog was born out of a fascination with people and the odd characters who occasionally come into the takeaway every now and then to either order, harangue or just plain simply annoy you.

This blog is my own personal account of my experience working in my family takeaway, my musings on customer oddities and about the food I grew up with.
